Mrs. Turner Teaches!
I am a retired elementary teacher with a Master’s in Education. I held state certification and taught for over 30 years. I recently decided to leave the classroom setting and use my talents in more diverse ways.
Whether you are looking for a private tutor or an instructor for a specialized topic for your child, or organization, I can help!
-
If your child needs help with an elementary academic area, my specialty is working with students who have delightfully different learning styles.
I offer dyslexic-friendly tutoring. I am not a dyslexia therapist or specialist; however, I am dyslexic. Therefore, I teach the way I learn best, which is multisensory based.
Dyslexic-Friendly means if it worked for me, a dyslexic, it might be just the support other children need, as well.
I can help your child establish learning strategies and study skills that benefit the full range of academic content.

If you are someone who is looking for a way to improve your electronic communication skills, as an individual or for a group setting, I can help!
I offer dyslexic-friendly keyboarding. I am not a dyslexia therapist or specialist; however, since I am dyslexic, I know the challenges that are associated with typing or keyboarding. I took typing in high school, back in the day, but the standard methods just never stuck with me.
I teach multisensory strategies that make it stick!

I am a teacher, but I’m also an artist. I offer art classes for a variety of age groupings of children or guided events for adults to hang out and be creative together.
Examples of art courses:
Art Around the World
Watercolor Painting
Changes in Art Styles Through History
Classes and subject matter can be customized to age and need.
-
My classes include basic etiquette rules that everyone should know and follow, dining etiquette, and tips for hosting an event.
I am available to help groups of all ages improve their understanding proper etiquette and understand why it still matters.

Teachers today face many challenges in the classroom - student anxiety, student learning challenges (some undiagnosed), not enough resources or time to figure out a solution, to name just a few.
I have found emotional support strategies and multisensory teaching techniques that have been helpful toward positively impacting students' learning.
I'll provide you with those tools and help equip you for the challenges you face in the classroom.
